Nicolás Falquez Hidalgo is an artist, animator, and designer based in Portland, Oregon.
Born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador, his work deals with themes of identity, the subjectivity of perspective,
and the struggles of human connection.
Currently, he’s finishing up his BFA in the Animated Arts at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. His thesis project is an animated short that explores the creation of subjective reality through abstracted visuals and electronic music.
His artistic practice is informed by a profound passion for music (composing and listening), a love for horror films, and a quest to create new cinematic languages that allow him to enunciate thoughts and feelings more sincerely than verbal language can.
